What Is The Electronic Train Line - The "Electronic Train Line" on a light rail vehicle coupler refers to the electrical connections and systems that allow multiple rail vehicles to be linked together and operate as a single unit, including powering the train, transmitting signals, and providing other essential electrical functions. This is achieved through electrical couplers that make connections between the cars, ensuring proper electrical communication and power transfer.
Purpose of Electrical Couplers - These couplers,
often found at the ends of light rail vehicles, are designed to connect the
cars both mechanically and electrically, allowing for the formation of a train.
They facilitate the transfer of power, signals, and other electrical functions
between the connected cars. It is how we used to bring back a broken down
car... Simply couple them, open the train line, and the power and controls
allow the "live" car to control and move the both of them.
Key Functions:
Power Transfer - The electrical coupler connects
the electrical systems of the coupled vehicles, allowing power to be drawn
from a central source and distributed throughout the train.
Signal Transmission - Couplers also establish
communication lines for transmitting signals between the cars, ensuring coordinated
control and operation of the train.
Data Communication - Some modern couplers also
include data communication lines, allowing for the transfer of information
between the cars, such as braking status, speed, and other relevant data.
The Electronic Train Line is what makes smooth operations possible with 2
Car Trains and Subways.
