Let's take us a trip to Lamar Colorado, to the Neoplan USA assembly plant to see how our now retired 5XXX series buses were being made. I found these photos a while back on the Neoplan Website, and they were gracious enough to allow their use on this page. As of January 2006, Neoplan USA has ceased operations in North America.

Here is the Neoplan offices and there are a couple of our buses sitting in front.

This is the beginning of the framework for the bus. All these pieces assemled together equal a bus frame assembly.

All that framework and some sheetmetal and you have the beginnings of a Low Floor bus!

Here we see the powertain assembly (engine and transmission) being carefully inserted into a body shell. Notice the Thermo King system is installed, but not completed.

Some of the tons of wire and breakers that go ito the bus is located in this compartment.

Completed engine assembly preparing to be tested for quality.

Coaches at the final finish area. Notice that the stripes and ribbons are not yet on.

Low Floor coach 5001 at Lamar, all completed and ready to roll!

As of 7/4/2013, The 5XXX series Neoplan Low Floor buses have been retired.
