A second page in memory of both buses and trolleys that are no longer with us.
May They Rust In Peace...

Off in the distance, a newly painted PCC is inbound just coming off of Haberman Ramp from the South Hills Junction to Warrington Avenue, as these other two PCC's are being cut up.
1768 awaiting its fate at SHVRC. I took this, and the next bunch when I was a operator at SHVRC. I used to explore these cars in between trips once in a while.

1766.
Sometimes, it's not accidents that cause things to meet a early demise... Let's look at the Homewood Carhouse fire..
Homewood car barn was built in 1900 and grew to be one of the two largest installations of Pittsburgh Railways, with 110 cars housed there. Also the site of PRC's heavy repair shops. On May 18 1955, Barn No. 2 was destroyed by fire along with all of the equipment within it, which included PCC trolleys 1026, 1051, 1155, 1220, 1281, 1294, 1600, 1648, 1682, 1701, 1725.
This is another bad way to lose equipment. A PCC and a bus collided near the Palm Garden Bridge reulting in injuries and equipment loss.
4003 sitting in a field in Uniontown, PA.
4010 also in the same field in Uniontown.
5611 being towed to its fate at the scrapper.
Junk row...awaiting final disposition...
1425 being cut up...Check out the rare for Pittsburgh resilient wheels.
More rust to come...
HOWEVER!
There is life after death!
Not all buses that are auctioned end up being crushed or otherwise destroyed...
There is still lots of life in a good old bus, especially if It is done right... Old buses make AWESOME motorhome conversions like I am doing, and somtimes they go back to what they did all their lives...
Lets see a few...
Ajax Pickering Transit Authority snapped up some of our old Orion V buses... Here are a few shots of them running in the new colors. The only real changes made were new paint and Luminator Horizon destination signs.
2062 is our old number 2227!
Thanks go out to Adrina Badaraco who lives in Ontario Canada who was gracious enough to send these great shots!
Even the not too well regarded STV has new life after we are done with it... Here is one of our old STV's made into a limo...
I wish I knew which number this was... but it was found on E-Bay by my son who was looking at buses.
Apparently, this former Neoplan Pennliner was spotted in CHINA. I love what they did to it. makes me wish I had kept my little Neoplan I had. Eventually, I plan on buying a 29' Gillig. Sure wish I could find more pictures of this bus.
Many of our old Pennliners have been exported to Guangzhou where 3593 is now No.1 Bus Companys 1654.
One of our old STV's is now in Virgina, serving "Ride On" in the DC metro area. (5326 is the new number)
If you know of other ex- Pittsburgh buses running someplace else, please let me know, and send pictures, if at all possible, and it will be placed here.
More to Come...
