Now, we are going to take a fast look at some of the unique PCC's that were in the fleet. Some were just off the wall, and others were just unique in their own way. The cars we will be looking at here on these pages are... I'm going to break the page into 2 separate pages, with the first 3 on the first page, the second 3 will be on page 2, which a link will be at the bottom of the page.
They are, In no real order...
1 - The Triple Treat, 1794
2 - The 3 squarefront PCC cars (1779, 1781 & 1976)
3 - 77/54, The Flyin' Fraction
4 - The Spirit Of 1776
5 - 1713, The Terrible Trolley
6 - The Mod Desire, 1730
We will begin with 1794, otherwise known as the Triple Treat!
1794 at South Hills Junction.
The Triple Treat car. Great advertising for the Gateway Clipper Fleet. Too bad the "stacks" wouldn't fit in the transit tunnel...This car spent all of its time on the Allentown line.
Here it is running the 49 Arlington route.
At South Hills Junction, preparing for departure on the 49. Most of its time was spent on this run because it simply would not fit in the trolley tunnel.
Here it comes off the Smithfield Street Bridge headed to town.
Here it is coming back to South Hills Junction.
Along Smithfield Street the Triple Treat rolls...

Now, Lets take a look the squarefronts... Half PCC, Half LRV!
PAT's "Extra Special Car" program where they took three wrecked PCC's and gave them new LRV styling. They were supposed to get flat ends like a LRV and bigger destination signs in the windows, florescent lighting, and air conditioning. Only one of the three ever got all those features, the others just got the flat nose.
PCC 1976, a experimental LRV style car created in our South Hills Jct shops. These were my favorites. I believe there were 3 made.
Here's 1976 coming down Grant St. The front was hadcrafted in the Tunnel Carhouse, and there were actually 3 made. This one had more features.

Loading up in town. I used to love catching this car.
I believe this shot (as well as the next one) were taken on a fantrip. This appears to be somewhere along the Drake line.
