Neoplan Low Floor Buses

The Neoplan Low Floor Transliner came to the Authority in 1999. The fleet numbers range from 5001-5160, most all of which were in service except for one, which was unfortunately burnt up (see roster page)

All of these have since been retired.

These buses were generally well received, and they were one of my favorites. The wheelchair ramp is the easiest one in the fleet to operate. The 5000 series buses are also very quick off the line, again due to the DD50 and the Allison 5 speed.

The biggest issue that most all the operators had was during the winter, you really needed a fire to stay warm. They have some serious draft issues after Neoplan repaired all of them. Not sure what they left out, but it was rather cold in the winter... Bundle up!

Here I am, sitting on the exit ramp for Bellevue on I-279, preparing for my trip on the 16C. I always loved these buses, one of my favorites...
